Biking Shop

Welcome all  - Mountain Bikers, Racers, Commuters and those who just enjoy cycling! This site is for you, your friends, family and colleagues, so please spread the word about finding this site.

As the ‘other half’ of this outdoor pursuits website we hope to inspire you to take up cycling or mountain biking as one of the best ways to get fit at a reasonable cost.  Just as in walking or hiking, you can start this sport very cheaply indeed, as long as you buy the correct bike for the type of cycling you want to do.

If you are a beginner, of any age, you’re probably not going to be going off on 20 mile downhill mountain biking adventures, more rather a local park, canal path or converted railway track, so a £1000 bike is probably a bit too much at this stage. But great bikes are still affordable, from around £150-£200 will get you on the road, and of course, a must have helmet.

One of the most important aspects of choosing the correct bike is what are you going to use it for? What will be the most common surface you will be riding on and how much do you want to replace your car with a bike?

With the plethora of bikes you see in shops and online, they are in the main, either mountain bikes or racers, with the occasional city commuter bike thrown in. Have you considered; touring bikes, trekking bikes or even a trike? All have their own special attributes and in many cases are EXACTLY what you require rather than the sales and marketing hype surrounding the MTBs and racers.

Touring bikes are a particular case in point, they are often considered heavier than MTBs, slower than racers and well, just not as much fun! It’s a problem that marketers still can’t square the circle with when trying to promote a tourer, and yet they are so versatile it is probably the only bike you’ll really need on a daily/weekend basis. Regretfully they are not the cheapest bike to buy and that also limits their appeal, but for a daily commute they’re ideal, and great for mild off road conditions such as cycle tracks.

So whether you’re an experienced biker knowing what it is you need or a beginner tentatively starting out we are sure you can find the solution within our biking price comparison section.
